It’s totally engagement season right now, and we couldn’t be happier!

Our couples in this area really love to capture the loveliness of fall when we do their engagement sessions, and we are happy to comply. But how do you know what location is best for you?

How do you choose a great & unique place that represents you both?

First, decide on the thing that you think is you guys. What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you like to hike? Enjoy a glass of wine or two? Do you like the beach? Do you enjoy comic books? Do you love baseball?

Second, figure out a place that either means something to you or that you have always wanted to visit together. If you guys have a special spot you try and hike at once a month, choose that space. If you have always wanted to go to a Christmas tree farm and cut down a tree yourselves, create an engagement shoot off of that.

We shot some awesome engagement photos on a lifelong friends family property- she essentially grew up there (and planned to marry there) so it was a pretty meaningful place to her.

Most seasoned photographers are completely open to suggestions from their couples. We love when our couples come to us with great space that mean something to them!

Third, let your photographer know what you are thinking. We love to create epic engagement outings for our clients, but are 100% open to their suggestions and their guidance. If a client wants to plan their own experience, we absolutely let them. Open communication is key to making sure you get what you want!

And lastly, have a plan B.

Sometimes you have a place in mind but you find out it’s under construction. Or there could be a storm that rips through and damages all the greenery you loved. The weather could even turn super cold and crappy the day before (this is Cleveland after all!). Have a plan B to eliminate stress and create a great experience either way.
